Bet you didn't know.....

How could Abraham

sacrifice his own son?

What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do?

Isaac was Abraham’s only son (through Sarah), Jesus is God’s only Son; both events were three days; both carried wood for the sacrifice (Jesus carried His cross); both took place in the same area; both sons were submissive to their fathers; God provided the sacrifice. But while God spared Isaac, He didn’t spare His own Son.

The Place Of Sacrifice

Mount Moriah was the place where Abraham was to sacrifice Isaac. One thousand years later, King David built an altar to the Lord on the same mountain. After David’s death, Solomon built a glorious temple on that same site. The temple lasted almost four hundred years until it was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar. When the Israelites returned from exile, they rebuilt a more modest temple on the same site. During the time of Jesus, King Herod rebuilt the temple, making it glorious again. It was destroyed by Roman armies in AD 70. All that remains is a portion of a retaining wall known as the “Western Wall” or “Wailing Wall.”
